Well, Halloween is nearly here, and that can only mean one thing – the Heaven ‘n’ Hell Halloween Specials! Every year, we do special deals at Halloween, such a jewellery offers and discounts on piercings. We have something VERY special this year – keep your eyes and ears peeled for more info soon!

However, all the usual rules apply. Those who are under 16 years old MUST come in with a parent to be pierced. Anyone over 16 must bring in photographic ID, such a passport, driving license, provisional license or Young Scot card. Also, it’s only one coupon per person! One coupon won’t do for a group of people, you’ll all need your own coupons!

Cerys’ christening was on Sunday, and all the staff and co were there, all scrubbed up! Know your Piercer!

We at H’n'H love it when people love their piercings and/or tattoos. But unfortunately, we also spend a lot of our time helping people who are in discomfort and pain because of badly done piercings.

The ONLY way to learn properly is an apprenticeship, as many people will tell you.  There’s no substitute for years of hands-on training with a professional and skilled teacher. But, sadly, there are ‘piercers’ (and we use that term loosely!) out there who have no training. People who watched videos or attended a so-called training course and now think they’re ready to pierce people. We spend a lot of time helping customers who’ve gone to these people. And while we don’t mind helping, we’d rather they didn’t have to go through this experience in the first place!

Take the woman in the above photo for example. She trusted someone to do her microdermal professionally, and yet was plagued with problems. The piercer who did this didn’t have enough experience or training, and the microdermal tried to reject. However, it shifted, and almost ‘capsized’ in her skin, causing the long end of the foot to burst out through the skin. She couldn’t wear a jewelled top on it anymore, because of the angle it was now sitting at. Thankfully, we were able to get it out reasonably easy, but it was still uncomfortable.

Microdermals that are done properly are no problem to remove if the customer doesn’t want them anymore, but when this happens, it makes our job harder. Thankfully, this woman wasn’t put of by her experience, but so many people are. It’s sad that people stop getting piercings or tattoos because of the idiots (and that’s what they are) that have no care for their customers.

So please, before you get a microdermal, or even a piercing, done, do your research. Learn about your piercer. Ask a million questions. Look for a portfolio. And of course, follow your gut instinct, as it’s usually not far wrong!
